The Optical practice was established by Robert Roope in 1979 in George Street, St. Albans where it can still be found today. It’s always been a small independent family business with the focus on providing quality eye care to the community.

Robert Roope’s interest in unusual glasses designs and vintage frames has always influenced the unique selection of frames available at the shop. Stock is constantly evolving, offering a great choice of individual eyewear.

Likewise, the professional staff at Robert Roope Opticians keep themselves constantly attuned to current innovations in prescription lens design. They recognize that every customer has a unique prescription and that modern lens technology can more closely address a customer’s finer visual requirements. That’s why Robert Roope and his team are happy to offer expert advice on the best choice of lenses to the individual customer,

Robert Roope selects lenses from superior lens manufacturers like Zeiss, Nikon, Essilor and Hoya.

Prescription lenses are available throughout our exclusive Black Eyewear range too…
